A Phone Moment With My 3 Year Old Niece

We get to learn a lot from observing children. A better part of my peers have reached a stage of life where they are, toiling at nursing toddlers and raising up little tots. Between the sweating and laughing at their pranks, having a closer look at it, can give you a clearer idea of how far we are from the kingdom of heaven.

Surprised! Here is a verse from the bible that can support it: Matthew 18:2,5 -  He called a child, whom he put among them,  and said, "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.  Whoever becomes humble like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.  Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me."

As for our family, we are in submission and waiting for God's perfect timing to be gifted a tiny one. Graciously, we have a heaven-sent niece whom we love and adore. There isn't a sad moment that hasn't been wiped away, by recalling her mischief's.

Getting her over phone is near to impossible, being the restless girl she is. I know most of you can relate to it. I asked her over the phone, what she had for dinner? Chickaa (Chicken) came the reply. Hassling to keep her on the phone, I continued the conversation. Jishama..needs some. Can I come over?

There came no reply and it was a long pause. All the while she was babbling away through half broken words about her new bicycle and the list of goodies she wanted during our next visit. Before she could think of hanging up the phone, I repeated ...Can I have some of the chikaa?

"What would I have, if I give it to you."

The answer was sudden and it left me and my husband staring at each other without a reply. What?? It was our 3 year old tiny teeny sunshine who just told that...ON MY FACE.

Beep...the phone was passed on to her younger sister, who hasn't started talking yet.
PONDER: Calling us matured and so called grown ups, don't we not react the same to a call for giving? Aren't we so concerned about what we would be left with if we allow our share to be taken? Where then is our hope and our trust? Isn't it on the same God who have promised us:
So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well - Mathew 6:31,36
I did meet up my niece the next day. She almost forgot about the whole conversation that we had. I tried explaining to her between her busy playtime. Now we have this game, every time we meet. I ask her to give me a chikaa...and the reply comes..YES, ONLY A LITTLE.
PONDER: My niece did not frown when asked to change and start giving. Are we ready to give up our sturdy behavior and be like little children? Then you are a step closer to the kingdom of heaven.
Change your ways and practice the art and happiness of self giving. As the word of God says: Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you - Luke 6:38.
